Meals on Wheels San Antonio meal-delivery volunteers noticed that our clients were sharing their meals with their pets. After realizing that, like their owners, the pets of many Meals on Wheels of San Antonio recipients were in need of nutritious food, we launched "AniMeals", the program to provide pet food to nourish the pets of seniors. AniMeals is a donation-sustained service which provides monthly deliveries of pet food to clients who find it hard to maintain the nutrition of their companion animals. These meals are delivered by animal-loving volunteers every third weekend of the month. If you or your organization is interested in distributing pet food to local seniors, please call 210.735.5115 or email us today!

Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio has fully realized its mission during the Covid-19 Pandemic because how can one safely shelter-in-place with no shelter? During this health crisis, more than ever, we are seeing how important it is to have an affordable and safe place to call home. Families in Bexar County are still in great need of decent, truly affordable homeownership. The lack of it is a crisis in our community, especially during times like these where sheltering at home is a necessity.Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio continues to build as we are deemed an essential business that provides safe, affordable housing to families in need at no profit.100% of donations go to home building: https://www.givedirect.org/donate/?cid=246

Healthy children learn more, and our outside children's learning spaces are in need of volunteers. With the Child Development Center closed, we offer safe social distancing on our grounds at 1135 Mission Road (78210). We need simple landscaping assistance (mowing, picking up branches) at our center located just a few blocks from historic Mission Concepcion. (Our center that opened in 1926 is a World Heritage Site Buffer Zone!) We have several raised children's sensory learning gardens, where mobile infants and toddlers can experience the smells, sights, sounds and joy of outdoor learning. At the gardens, children learn how healthy foods grow. We have simple bird feeders and wind chimes. Check our Child Development Center page at blessedsacramentacademysa.org to watch our 'Gardening with a Toddler' videos. We need pruners, a bird bath and a Purple Martin House. Can you donate one or more?

SA Youth's Care Package campaign supports students and their families during this challenging time by creating unique "care" boxes that spark joy, cheer, and happiness! We hand deliver care packages to the doorsteps of our families, spreading joy, not germs! Care packages include items that support the emotional well-being of the students while keeping them engaged and stimulated in their studies and provide families essential household items like cleaning wipes, hygiene products, diapers, paper goods, and non-perishable food items. Donations to support can be made here. There is an option to include a personal note with your donation, something that will be sure to brighten anyone's day.
Nursing homes and long-term care facilities are limiting visitors and congregate programs to protect their residents. Unfortunately, our seniors are dealing with isolation and sadness. If you would like to brighten the day of those living in care facilities, we are seeking volunteers to put together a basket of activities, treats, and handmade crafts. Many residents are in their rooms alone so be sure to consider items and activities that can be done alone such as cards, word puzzles, crosswords, etc. If you would like to share treats, only include pre-packed items to limit risk.
Interaction during drop-off should be limited and contactless if possible.

As the COVID-19 health pandemic continues to increase and impact our nation and the world - we stop to take a breath and think about the upcoming summer. With the hope and expectation of the threats from this virus trending downward in the weeks to come, CAMP is moving forward with summer planning and application processing. The reality is - CAMP’s summer program will be impacted by the situation we are all facing. The CAMP staff is planning and having those difficult conversations and will modify sessions as needed. It is very important to understand that we will only have summer camp IF it is safe for all Campers, Staff, and Volunteer Counselors. Our typical summer of laughing, swimming, dancing, being a hero, and changing lives will look very different without the commitment of valuable volunteers. Applications are available on our website at www.campcamp.org, as well as updated information regarding the impact of COVID-19 and how we are preparing for summer. We urge you to consider joining us this summer and completing an application to volunteer this summer. Volunteer Opportunities begin at age 15. There is no doubt that we are enduring historic and unprecedented times, but the CAMP family is one of strength and resilience. We remain optimistic that summer will still happen, but we know it won’t happen without volunteers like you. Our goal as always is to serve our campers – after all – CAMP is for the Camper!
